Hello all. Replacing intake manifold gaskets due to massive oil leaks. Not sure what this is. Small plastic tube seems to be routed through firewall. Connected to the back side top of the engine block via small compression fitting. Trying to pull the little bit of tube out of the olive to reinstall, the pliers slipped and the olive went flying out the window that I opened so I can breathe from all the fumes from the parts cleaner.

That's the oil pressure line to the gauge in the console. Now is a good time to replace the entire run - since you lost the ferrule out the window. Corvette Central has the complete kit for about $10.
I replaced mine with a small SS Braided hose that can withstand pressure and time much better than the nylon tubing used on my 1968 C3. They do offer copper line kits as an option but the SS Braided line should outlast them all.
The idea of 200* oil squirting out from under the dashboard and onto my legs while cruising one day doesn't really appeal to me.
I bought mine as a kit and it had all the necessary pieces to make the new SS hose work. Here is an example of the part I am using:
Allstar Performance ALL46110-60 - Allstar Performance Gauge Line Kits
This is from Summit Racing and they cost roughly twice the price of the nylon tube replacements. This part is $31 online.
Yes, you can by pass or plug that hole in the block. OK temporarily, but you should replace/repair it.
Agree with going with braided line. I just did this last month. I think I use a AN3 line. I got mine from a local hose/tubing supplier and he made a adapter to fit on the back of the gauge.
If you are concerned with originality, consider that the original line lasts a very long time and is vibration/movement tolerant (where a copper line may not be). Obviously, I believe in the original design but that's just me and my desire to keep my cars appearing as Chevrolet designed them.
can you plug it off? yes. will you be able to tell if oil pressure is good? no. so only use it for driveway moving until you fix it. and make sure oil level is good! that was your massive oil leak BTW...
Thanks everyone for your replies. The oil leaks were coming from most of the bolts on the intake manifold, and possibly also from under the distributor. The cam cable was zip tied to the oil line. I broke the oil line when removing the cam cable. I used the nut to punch out a small piece of material from the old intake manifold gasket, put some silicone on it inserted it into the nut then threadef the nut back on the stub on the engine block, and it seems to be holding. I'll order a new line on Monday.

a pipe plug would have been better, if your oil pressure gets high it could blow though that fix, just keep an eye on it so you dont have a gusher on your hands
