That code would be from a 1964 Corvette dated 04/02/64 CA 3.36:1 Standard Manual Transmission or Powerglide

It is Standard no posi unless someone rebuilt it that way. CB would have been a 3:36 Posi

Can I have it rebuilt with posi and 3.70 gears or do I need to pull it and swap it completely?

Ether way you would need to remove the Differential. If you want it rebuilt to a posi would at that time have it evaluated to what additional upgrades would be needed to protect your investment.

You have to remove it and open it up to see what you have. It could be anything from the past 45 years in there. The 64 housings would have a tapped hole on each side of the front bracket instead of the through bolts that 65-79's had. Any 65-79 Eaton or new Eaton will fit the housing. The bearing caps will be wider if it's a 64. The 63-66 housings were narrow and the side shims are not sold in any master kits sold today. If you have an open diff it will work fine for street use, if you have the original DANA posi it was junk, it you have an 65-68 posi they weren't much better. 69- 71 were ok, 72-79 were the best posi cases and they came with junk clutches. Solid Steel clutches are on bad order for months now.
