Just took a better look at what’s there and what’s hanging free is a solid copper line which did have an oil drip on its end. Not going to put in the nylon if I can help it. SS braid sounds like It’d be both reliable and easy to work with.
I'm assuming the PO had a plain old pressure gauge there and the 90s and nipple were to orient it so it could be looked down upon from the top of the engine compartment. It's not a bad idea if you have your in-car oil gauge plumbed to the china wall.

I have 3 non working gauges, clock (shocker), oil pressure and amp meter.
The tach was dead when I picked up the car 5 weeks back but the more I run it the more the tach behaves. The cable has numerous cracks and I have a new one on hand to be done one day soon.
The car isn’t going to be a concourse restoration but I do intend to make everything work as it should.
Have you considered installing a '74 and newer oil pressure gauge?
It's electric so no chance of a leak inside your Corvette and, it's easy to install a sender at the oil pump or near the distributor.
You can get a Quartz clock.
Test the 2 wires at the battery gauge and see if both have 12 volts.
