unhook the small wire or wires off the solenoid. the ones on the 3 or 4 mm terminals hook a wire to the S terminal. long wire. bring the other end up into passenger compartment. touch end of wire to positive battery terminal. in neutral or park with wheels blocked. engine should start or at least crank and stop cranking when wire removed. if it continues cranking the problem is with the syarter itself. if it starts and stops correctly, the problem is with the switch or wiring that fires the starter. only wire on S terminal should be yellow. with HEI, the purple wire is not needed. do not connect it. tape off the bare end.
Hi, derekderek. I am sorry to late to reply.
I just have been done your instruction. The first, I have to say sorry everybody. Because last owner changed the any wires color, so I mistook to connect S and R terminals. But Yellow wire connect toS terminal and purple to R terminal,
starter won't crank. And next, yellow and purple wires removed from terminals and hook the other wire to the S terminal. Just touch the positive battery terminal. Starter cranked, but it has not been stop the wire remove from battery.
Is starter fault, right?

Yellow goes to R and purple goes to S.
underlined text - no crank with the wires off, right? That is indicating the wiring is the issue. Check the wires for voltage.

I read it as wires backwards = no crank and then putting purple onto S terminal = uncontrolled cranking.
Hello, Derek Derek. I removed the starter and changed the solenoid, but the stabilizer doesn't stop. So, I asked the owner of this car. Has anyone overhauled the starter? No one had overhauled and I overhauled the starter. Then I got back to the car and checked again. Turn the key from OFF to ST and crank the starter. And when I returned from ST to OFF, the starter stopped. Maybe I thought the solenoid was not faulty, the starter motor was faulty. Anyway, thanks to derekderek and everyone else, the starter issue has been fixed. Thank you so much.
