Does anyone know if all 3 of the James Garner AIR 68 road racing corvettes have been accounted for?
I know #44 was restored, and I read that the promotional car had been or was being restored.
But what about the #45 car?? I can't find any documented history on where it is.

Hey Robert,
There were two wrecks at Del Mar, both after the stop box.
They said it sounded like the guy in the Barracuda hit the brakes and then hit the throttle. Some thought his foot may have slipped off the brake pedal and onto the throttle.
The other one was a pickup truck that they said this was his first event after finishing it. I saw that one and he didn't seem to slow up much in the stop box
but he didn't seem to hit the barriers as hard as the first car,
so I don't know if he lost his brakes or had some other mechanical issue.
As far as the stop box being tight, it wasn't the longest stop box we've had at these events but there were a lot of faster cars than these that got stopped ok.
Dave is out of business and retired and the shop is long gone. I don't even know if he is still alive. His brother Jim passed long ago. Story is Dave did an impeccable job on restoration of the #44 car. He was very OCD about C2's and C3's.
I had a conversation with him before he retired about the disputed ownership of the car with Jim's wife. Don't remember who retained ownership, but if this is the car it looked like hell. Dave had wanted to sell me the hood, I tried it out, but it wa a piece of crap and couldn't have come from the Garner car.
You would have to track down either Dave or Jim's wife. Can't imagine she would have wanted any part of the car other than selling it off as quickly as possible according to Dave. So yes, that's all I know and I don't even know if any of it is correct. This was all of ten years ago.
