Default Big Brake Conversion

For anyone whose done this upgrade what has your experience been with brake performance? I’m considering willwood 6 piston front on 12.19 rotors and 4 piston on rear with drilled and slotted rotors.

I have 13" Baer brake kit on mine and they are very nice. Very progressive around town and if you get serious with some track time or similar, they can definitely hold up to what you are doing.

Of course, you will need at least 17" wheels to fit the calipers with a kit like this.

So whats is the reason for upgraded ? I currently have my 78 LS3 / T56 Mag with wilwood replacement D8's and use the car mainly for track days. Upgraded using Raybeatos ST47 pad on slotted rotors. For around town they are very good for anything the street needs.
For track days they perform very well with the exception of brake pad knock back, but this is more to do with the spindle setup.

Now the worst part of factory setup is bleeding the system. Most fail and have very bad brakes. Knowing a good process to bleed is a start. WIth good pads / bleeding the factory brakes will perform great.

Now going to 12.19 rotors is not going to give you much help. You need to start with 13" or better 14" rotors to notice any change on a properly setup brake system. And then it will also depend on the pads you choose.
