Vapor Canister
Vapor Canister Top and Cutoff Bottom
Top and Bottom with foam pieces
Foam pieces removed and cleaned up as best I could (probably can't get these either?)
Inside view of canister with foam piece removed.
Charcoal weighed in at 1.5 #'s (missed a little as it tried to go everywhere, lol).
Glad to see you decided to perform surgery on one of these.
It's a fun project. There are some photos on the forum showing the process and inside. Here's a link to one I participated in back in 2017.Fuel leaking from carbon canister. - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion
Looking at your avatar you have a 73 Coupe. Just wondering if you have the rest of the purge valve parts that go to the top of your canister? Don't see them in any of your photos. It appears that you have the correct canister GM #7030805 from what I can tell in your photo.
Hope you have all the rest of the parts needed. See attachments.
PS- You can purchase a new bottom filter from any of the Corvette Vendors or your local NAPA store. Thanks for sharing your project.

Purge Valve Spring and Retainer Ring
Purge Valve Cap and Rubber Seal
Thanks for the link and info. Yeah, I've got the lid to the carb connection but there was no spring nor rubber seal like your pictures show. Hmm, that tells me that one of the former PO's was in there as some point. I tried looking up that spring but didn't find anything in a quick search. I'm guessing parts for these things are long gone unless someone here has them? Yep, it's a 73. I did get the bottom filter and have the cap that goes over it, got it bagged up with the rest of my engine swap (and everything else, lol!).

Yeah, your not going to find the missing parts very easily,if at all. Every once in a while the canisters show up on eBay if you really wanted a complete one. But it's all moot since your not using one anyway!

Just like I did for the top where I missed how far the innards went down into the canister by "that much" (Maxwell Smart, 'Get Smart')!
I used JB Welds plastic product to seal that cut up but as the canister was still together it was pretty easy to do, just fill in the void. It's a two-part (epoxy?) and stayed in the void without running.
But your question is a good one as now I have two separate pieces to deal with and my simple thinking about it is to put the top part of the canister in my vice upside down and put the foam back in the top, fill with new charcoal, then bottom foam piece and the glue the two parts back together. Simple, in theory. Others that have done this might pipe in with other (better?) methods on how to do it?
Thanks for the question.
PS: also, I put witness marks around the bottom before cutting it off so I could match them up when resealing it.
