I posted in the wanted to buy area for an ignition harness that goes from the coil to the starter solenoid. Does anyone have a repair for this wire? I was going to run a new wire and abandon the original in place it is cooked. The original has a cloth covering over the plastic. Hoping someone will
come up with a good used replacement.
Thank you
You would need to know which sections you need for your Corvette but I have used Lectric Limited before to replace a section of the wiring harness that dealt with the T.I. system that came on my 1968 C3. These guys have a lot of different level kits to replace specific sections of the wiring harness. They are good and the products are of the highest quality as the local restoration shop uses them as well. I would try calling them and asking them for help the particular section.
My car came with the factory T.I.System and the factory harness was cut up and modified and after installing their new harness things started working properly again. The parts look like the factory parts and the best part is they are new and they really work well.
It may be best to replace the entire engine harness. It is far less expensive than an interior harness. The wire with the cloth on it may be a resistance wire going to the coil. If that is the wire in question, you cannot replace it with a strand wire. Jerry
I do not believe they make just that in a seperate harness. The ignition wire is part of the engine harness though and runs two places. One comes from the starter solenoid and provides 12V when cranking. That wire is also crimped with the resistance wire at the coil, and the resistance wire goes into the fuse panel thru the engine harness connector.
A yellow wire with the cloth jacket goes from the positive side of the coil to the solenoid on the starter. There is black wire spliced together with the yellow wire at the positive side of the coil and the black wire passes thru a fuse-able link, then thru the firewall to
the ignition switch. Question! How would i know if the cloth covered wire is a resistance wire? I called Lectric Limited and told my situation and they would only do the entire engine harness!

Read what I posted above. The resistance wire is not the wire going to the starter.
