Engine swap
I have a 76 has a bbc 454 in it was in it when i got the car years ago. I took out the bbc and putting a sbc 1986 305 in.
The question i have is can i use the flywheel and clutch and starter from the bbc on the sbc i know it should bolt up.

Clutch may work, Starter can fit both it just depends on the flywheel tooth count. The flywheel however will not work. The SBC is internally balanced and the BBC 454 is externally balanced.

no. one piece and two piece bbc flywheels are the same. same bolt pattern anyway. and will bolt to a two piece sbc. but a 454 wheel will vibrate like crazy. a guy sold me a 454 flywheel saying it was a 400 small block wheel. boat shook like a leaf. these are 2 external balance motors. but the weights are way off so the balance weights have to be way different. the one piece 86-up small block has a different smaller bolt pattern. they are lightly ext balanced. still take a neutral harmonic balancer. and i am not sure if 305 and 350 are balanced differently or not. 305 pistons are skinnier and lighter, but not sure if enough to affect balance. also 86 is a transition year. be sure what you have before buying anything. if 2 piece any small block 168 tooth 2 piece wheel will work. if one piece, find a 305 wheel to be sure.

is the big block ok and not needed? brian at the boatyard in westville behind the ball fields on almonesson rd may be interested. and they may have junked a 305 or 3. the same flywheel is used on a boat, but clutch surface is painted black. i think autozone on the pike in magnolia still cuts flywheels. needless to say i am near you. trying to dump the rest of my junk and get this house sold so we can get to florida. and pm adollarwodbnice. he may want the exhaust you are not using. i gave him a rusty set i got for free.

yes. there is a bobweight on the back of old style cranks that is not there on 1 piece small blocks. so a bit has to be added to flywheel-starter wheel. i will ask at the boatyard if they have a 305 flywheel next time i see them.

Ok i got the correct flywheel clutch and pressure plate mounted correct
bell housing bolted right up and trasmission bolted to bell housing no problem
but when i go to put the face plate on the bottom of bell housing its not lining up
is there a difference in face plates from bbc to sbc or is it the fact its a one piece rear seal
