removed my trailing arms from my 72 today and noticed that the rubber was squeezing out of the mounting area around the strut rods..
so I go to my spares box with lot of new (just in case) parts that i have amassed over the years, yep, got a set of 4 new bushes....
but they wont fit, they are 1-1/4 dia... loose as because the strut rods have the larger 1-3/8 dia holes in them
worked out that they are the 75-82 rods....
is this a normal swap out? are they the same length? cause no problems?
I've had the car since Oct 2010, and only noticed when pulling it all apart.
Check the fit of the rod end in the support, sometimes the 63-74 supports are tighter in the "corners" and may cause a bind in extreme travel, simple file or burr will clean it up
looks to be plenty of clearance and there are no marks or gouges on rod ends or spindle support.
is it true that you should put a little bit of lithium grease under the inner end caps before installation?
some forum posts that i have been reading up on say yes others say not needed...
