Trailing Arm Installation with or without Bearing Assembly
Hello guys,
Would you advise to go ahead and install the trailing arm with the wheel bearing assembly attached, OR install the trailing arm and then install the wheel bearing assembly afterwards?
Do I need a special tool to remove the spindle flange once I manage to get the 1 1/16" spindle nut off?
FYI, I have offset Global West trailing arms and ZIP rebuilt rear wheel bearing assemblies.
To replace the bearing/hub assembly, you do not need to remove the 1 1/16" nut on the inside of the arms. You must remove the caliper, rotor, brake line, parking brakes and the parking brake cable. Once the parking brake shoes are removed, there are 4 nuts to remove. Once the nuts are off, separate the hub from the trailing arms. Of course, the half shaft and shock mount with the strut rods must also must be removed. Jerry
it's been a few years now since I rebuilt my trailing arms. But I remember installing the arms blank and reinstalling the bearing carrier once the arm was on the car. Mostly due to weight and I was working in a one car garage on jack stands.
