Default 1972 A/C Wiring Correct Orientation?

Can anyone tell me which is the correct orientation on these wires for the a/c controller. They will plug in either direction. I don't understand what the wiring schematic is trying to tell me. These are the plugs that connect to the resistors on the left side of the a/c controller.

Little tough not knowing what line diagram you're going by...

I'm using the schematic from the 1972 service manual (pages 1A-64 & 1A-65).

Back at it after a long vacation out of the TX heat..Now that its only 90* in the garage I can stand to work on this thing again.
Still trying to figure out the correct orientation of the S1 and S2 wires on the left side of the climate controller. The plugs will slide on the terminals in either direction. Does anyone know what color wire should be "down", as in closest to the floor of the car? The schematic above from the 72 service manual doesn't give a frame of reference.

Next week I will see if I still have a picture of my opened console that might show this connection

In reality it really doesn't matter.
Both S1 & S2 are single pole Normally Open Contacts.
Until S1 contacts are closed (ON) S2 receives no voltage.
When S2 contacts close (ON) it is only then power is sent to a portion of the Fan Speed Switch and the Ambient Switch.
Look at it like a light switch, the light is either ON or OFF.

This is how mine was orientated when I was switching over to vintage air. This view is with the console lifted from the rear towards the gauges.
