A couple years ago I rebuilt my Heater Control unit and yesterday reinstalled it back into the car. Once I finally got it in place. Both dials are set at OFF and I started up the engine. Something must be wrong with my rebuild of the Heater Control unit because the blower fan is running while both dial switches are set to OFF. I wasn’t able to turn off the fan until I set the left dial to the VENT position, then the fan ceased to spin. Does anyone know why? I suspect it’s in my 2 year old rebuild of the heater control unit but I’ve got no idea where to begin diagnosing this issue…. Help!
I forgot to mention this is for a 1972 Corvette with a 350 engine, 4 speed with AC. Surely I am hoping someone out there will know how to calibrate this device? Thank you! Joe H.
Today I figured out the crazy issue with my heater controller unit in my 72 with AC. I found a magazine article on how to rebuild your c3 heater controller unit... 1968-1976 Corvette Heat/AC Control Panel Rebuild | Corvette Magazine | Corvette How To's & Technical Articles
and in the article around steps 13, 14, 15 it tells of how to calibrate 2 mechanical switches which are bolted onto the left side of the controller. Once I did that, bingo! Everything worked perfectly as it should. Now, with both dials set to OFF, once I turn on the key, the fan doesn't run! Just as it should!
