Default 1981 Broken Turn Signal Lever - Replace Pivot or Switch?

Hi Everyone,

I've been reading through threads about broken turn signal levers but can't seem to figure which part I need to replace. I was driving my 81 (Tilt and telescopic wheel, no cruise control) the other day and my turn signal lever just fell out. The signals and the high beams themselves work. The left signal was noticeably much harder to engage than the right signal or high beams so i usually just held the arm down when I had to make a left, not ideal.

I ordered a replacement turn signal lever from CorvetteMods, but it doesn't fit in the pivot where you actually place the arm. It appears there's some broken metal in the pivot but not a whole lot, attaching the best picture I could take. It also appears the previous owner may have used some kind of glue to get the broken lever in there.

I saw some guides about drilling the broken metal out but in my case, I don't think that'll work (open to suggestions). Do I need to replace the pivot or the switch or both? It looks like replacement pivots are no longer manufactured, what have people been doing? Any help very much appreciated.

Unfortunately the plastic that the turn signal lever fits in is not a separate replaceable part.
Although, if you can find the plastic part of the assembly it is just secured in the bracket with a roll pin.
The assembly is called Pivot Kit, W/Pin Dimmer Actuator.
Late 79-82 used the same part for the T&T columns.
GM part number 7833283
Sticker Shock....
E-bay Listings:https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...33283&_sacat=0

The 78 through early 79 difference is the angle of the plastic where the turn signal lever fits in.
That assembly is a "Little" more affordable...
