I have a zz4 crate motor in my 74 and am looking for a temp sensor that will fit in the head and work with the factor gauge. I have a sensor in one of the ports on the intake for the fitech and the other port is unusable due to clearance with the radiator hose and filler neck. Has anyone found a sensor with the smaller thread size that will work?
Good choice. It's not that hard to do. Took maybe an hour because I didn't want to bugger it up. I suspect an experienced machinist could do it in less time.
This.
These thermostat housings are rotatable 360 degrees. There inexpensive, All over ebay and Amazon. Come in a variety of colors. But they need a little porting on the inside.
Note my temp switch.

I managed to get the sensor in the hole you are claiming is unusable. The L98 heads on the zz4 are threaded for a 3/8 NPT. So the best thing to do if you cannot use the intake is to turn the sensor down to fit a 3/8 npt thread.
