Default Shift indicator install

Okay. For the life of me I can’t figure this out the clear plastic PRN321 indicator. How does it either attach to the underside of the center console or the housing. I’ve searched threads and people have asked how to adjust the indicator marker or if their car originally had an indicator but nothing on the clear plastic PRN321 install.

I’ve looked for any type of clip that could be missing on my 77 (auto). I even thought maybe when the 3 housing screws are tightened it would hold it in place (it doesn’t btw).

i know I don’t need it, but it’s my wife’s car and she wants it, so…………

I know I could epoxy it or something to the underside of the center console but I don’t really want to do that.

Appreciate any help. I’ve taken it apart and put it back together multiple times and it keeps sliding after the first bump or two.

thanks again.

I’ve got pics on another device but unfortunately I’m having trouble with that device or I would send them. Took pics when I took mine apart and reassembled a few months ago. The gear selector plate sits on the underside of the console, then your orange indicator sits on top of that. Next there is a black plate with a slit in it with holes for the screws on opposite ends. All of that is topped with the light assembly. One of the screws goes thru the light assembly only on the left side, the other two screws are on opposite ends of the light assembly and go thru both that assembly and the black plate…….all of that holds in the gear selector plate and orange pointer.

sorry for my non technical terms. If I can get my old iPad to update I’ll send you the pics.

Don

thanks Don.

yeah that’s the way I’ve put it back together but the plastic plate still slides around. I feel I’ve tightened the three screws about as tight as they go but the plate still slides.

I’ll get it back a part and try it again and try to tighten the 3 screws a bit more. I just didn’t know if maybe my car being 45 yo I was missing a clip or something.
