Both of these decided today was going to be the day they test their machines against a Vette.
First one was the crotch rocket.....Don't ask what brand....I wasn't looking at badges.
We pull from the light and he hits it....I in turn hit it....had the nose pass him all the way to the next light about 1/8 mile. We get to the next light....he pulls along side and gives a thumbs up.....Says to me thats one fast car you have there....then burns away.
Second one is a brand new stang still had the dealer plates.....I pull from a stop, he decides to pull with me.
So I hit it and leave him......next light he wants to go all the way....rev'ing the engine.....light turns green....I leave him there burning rubber......by the time he catches up I'm waiting at the next light.....he pulls along side and asked...".What you got under there"?.......I told him a little old 1981 Corvette 350 engine with some mods......He says....."That's one sick car".......I said thanks....we go our separate ways.....
Another guy was chasing me around Waikiki and I thought maybe he was trying to check out his machine against a Vette, however he was just trying to pull along side to tell me "That's a beautiful car and a mean sounding engine too"...........Took the car on a shake down cruise today to see how the new Super Yank 3500 and the new 3/4 clutch pack gears were functioning......Me very Happy Cappy...... :seeya Cappy
Re: Crotch Rocket and a Stang (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
Oh man, now that the Kill Stories section is gone, I was afraid of that.
Now people are gonna get slammed when they post a high po story with there Vette. I understand both opinions. For the record I only race at NHRA dragstrips, but I still like to cruise on the street and ocasionally have a little fun. :steering: :bb
And what happened when the tourist family driving the rented Dodge Caravan pulled out into the path of the street-racers?
Dunno, check Cappy's tires. :boxing
L48Shark,
Thanks,
I knew I was going to get flak from some of the members....Mean time,....I'll go check the tires......see if I have a Dodge Caravan with some Tourons stuck up in the treads. :seeya Cappy
smokin75-427,
I'm all for racing at the NHRA drag strip too.....However a little fun between the lights....no side roads between.....and a guy next to you wants to know if you'll be his little Huckleberry..... :smash: :seeya Cappy
Re: Crotch Rocket and a Stang (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
U told the guy u had an 81 350 with simple mods, i though you had a Linginfelter engine or a 383!!! Well, all that street racing, its no wonder your gonna burn in hell, especially 4 winning against bikes. BTW, u would'nt happen 2 know how to get a performer RPM to fit under ma hood would ya?
Try openning hood.....Stick RPM Performer under there, then :smash: Then slam hood down.....what ever sticks up above the hood line....mount a air scoop on it. :D :seeya Cappy
Re: Crotch Rocket and a Stang (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
If U sneak up to my car and do all that to my car/hood/engine in the middle of the night then i could call Geico and get all my future MODS paided for!!!
Last time I snuck out to make mechanical adjustments on someones car....I had rock salt stuck in all my exposed body parts.....No more creeping in the dark for me. :D :seeya Cappy
I call em Tour-rons.....You know.....The ones with the can of beer in one hand and the road map in the other.....while the wife does her make up and kids are in back screaming...are we there yet?
gkull,
8" MT ET Streets.......I don't know what shift rpm was......I use a shift light set at 5800 rpm, however during this event, I did not use the shift light. I went by ear and tried to make sure I had a clear road ahead and I was leading....... :seeya Cappy
BTW,
I still have a set of brand new 10" MT ET Streets.....they touched the inside frame during launch.....so they sit in the storage room waiting for a buyer.....I paid $170.00 each.....I'll sell to the first $250.00 money order I receive.... :seeya Cappy
Also thanks for putting me in touch with Scott, at Art Carr......If this Trans fails.....I'll try theirs....Too bad I missed out on their Trans/Converter package sale......My trans shop installed the 9 Clutch Red Pack.....Are these any good or will I fry them too?

Re: Crotch Rocket and a Stang (8T1-7T9 BIONIC VETTE)
Cappy I think the 9 clutchess will work fine. I have the biggest B&M tranny cooler and I have considered installing a small fan for when I'm not moving. So I take it that your normally manually shifting?
Somedays I just miss Hawaii! I used forget that winter existed when I lived there.
Yep.....Friday or Saturday......What night you going?.....A Video Cam would be nice if you know who has one. Aloha :seeya Cappy
BTW,
I went by your house yesterday.....Since you weren't there, went over and talk story with Myron.....That British Thames is looking mean....Just right for us little guys to fit into.......You'd never be able to drive that.....He pulled the blower off to make some adjustments for the hood since he moved the radiator forward to make room for the A/C compressor....He's going to need the A/C for sure....That things like driving around in a tiny thermal hot box. Cool looking car. :seeya Cappy

gkull,
I have a tranny cooler....However it''s not the biggest......Do you think I should get a bigger one? With a Cooling Fan?
Along with my Tranny Cooler....I had them install a One Quart Extra Oil Pan with the tubes running through it....I have thought about a tranny cooler back where the spare tire used to be...with a fan blowing across it. :seeya Cappy
BTW,
The MT ET Streets work very well, however keeping air in them is another story.....I don't want to put tubes in them since I'm not screwing to the rims......any ideas to keep the air in there?.....I heard dish soap....or that tire frog stuff?
