Could you please send me a picture of your Z bar. I modded my for shorter pedal assembly throw. I use a manual clutch and it's easy
Gkull: found my 72 z-bar and took pics as requested with a ruler. Am curious how you modded yours and how did it work out? 4.0" and 8-3/4"...block side?
I had a hard time getting a picture on the car! From the Z-Bar cross bar I drilled extra holes. Upper top is 4 inches, middle is 3.5 inches and lower is 3 inches. bottom has a 3.5 and a 4 inch hole.
Presently I'm 3.5 top and 4 inch bottom. Making for less foot pedal movement to open the PP from the clutch and flywheel.
I picked up a new 800# hydraulic transmission jack from HF and exchanged the 1500# load leveler for their 2 ton while I was there since they now had them is stock.
Today I had some free time so I pulled the bolts holding the flex plate to the converter.
Am I loosing it, because I thought there were four bolts holding the flex plate to the converter, but I only found three?
I also found one of the bolts missing holding the transmission to the block.
More missing hardware!
I tried to pull the transmission dip stick tube to give me some addition clearances, but it just wiggled around in the hole and wouldn’t pull out.
I guess it will wait until the transmission is on the floor.
The trans dipstick tube is usually bolted to the back of the head.
Thanks for the information on the converter bolts!
The trans dipstick was bolted to the back of the engine with one of the trans bolts.
I removed that bolt before trying to pull the dipstick tube, but it’s stubborn and won’t pull out of the trans case.
I’ll leave it for now.
Thanks again,
Greg
