Default CAM ? DPFI vs Carb......

I have a 355 SB, ALuminum heads, headers, and a L98 roller cam with 1.56 roller rocker ratio, engine starts and runs fine idles lo really easy, and good power.....BUT I was forced to return to a Carter/Edelbrock AFB and intake and a vacuum advance dizzy of course.....

BUT what sort of issues are there by running the L98 cam, let alone slightly extended rocker ratios with a CARB???

Why you would rather a carburetor over the precision of EFI I do not know.
But, No reason a carburetor won't work with your current setup. jetted correctly of course.

Carburetors have done a fine job on millions of cars.

No issues, should work fine once properly tuned.

Hello 4-vettes and mrvette,

The reason he has a carburetor is because this C3 has a L98 engine from a C4 Corvette in it and not enough room for the original style TPI that came on the C4's. The system he had before was constantly having issues and causing strife. Trust me, this car is better off with a Carburetor even if it is a carter/Edelbrock carburetor.

The old system was some sort of concoction with various non-stock parts which kept the owner from being able to truly enjoy His Corvette. I remember this gentleman from his posts on the C4 Forum trying to get the L98 engine to work properly.

Lots of L98 engine are out there running a carburetor with absolutely no trouble at all. Since you now have a carburetor you can pull the catalytic out from the exhaust system. No Computer controls are needed with the carburetor in place on the L98.

Thanks, I surprised I'm remembered much at all over a 23? year span.....at any rate, I put an L98 induction on the car back up north in the Wash DC region, stock engine in good shape, and 4 speed stick.....well with the move toe Jax. Floriduh, I found much higher cruising speeds, let alone any trips with 336 rear......so decided to change drivetrain, bought a fresh roller short block for cheep, and that was what prompted the change to modified LT1 induction and aluminum heads....near 20 years ago.....in that time frame, I bought a 200 4r core for cheep, and read up on it, bought the parts from a HI PERF trans parts outlet here, and did it myself.......like any hobby car, over time, the project takes on many differences from stock.....the ONLY THING stock about my car is the chrome bumpers....ALL else is modified , miss nothing.....ALL......
