Engine removal / gearbox
I have removed the gearbox and clutch assembly to put new clutch in my '69 C3. Noticed a couple of the old gaskets leaking so I have decided to remove the engine. There is not much more to do to pull engine and freshen it up. But the question is when I go to put it back in should I attach the clutch/bellhousing/gearbox to the engine and install it all together or just bolt on the clutch and bellhousing and drop it back in and then attach gearbox
Has anyone done it both ways and what way would be better?

The easiest way is as one unit. Can you do it with the motor installed, yes but it is a hassle, especially if you have the stock welded in transmission crossmember. It can go in, tailfirst on its side with the muncie shifter bracket removed but it is a complate hassle, especially if the input shaft and the clutch assembly werent mated begore hand.
Dont do it one then the other, it will take onger and be a big headache.
If you pull the radiator and hood you can get it to slide in especially with an engine leveler/tilter
