That plate runs north and south with the pins through the baseplate and the carrier.

This setup was in my 1981 batwing differential with an automatic trans.

Been making the auto to manual swap stepwise. This weekend swapped out the 81 auto batwing with an 80 differential from 4 speed including the half shafts.

I knew how it came out but got stuck on the reassembly. Lesson learned. the 80 carrier did not have the hole for the pin in the carrier.

BTW … the difference in the heavy duty 4 speed half shaft, u joints, straps and bolts are impressive. Yes changed the yolk at the back of the wheel also.

Pedal assembly was done a few months ago.

The trans swap next.

I don’t know that it matters to have that part there or not. When I mounted the spring in my ‘81? I did away with it.

YES.. that's the diagram I was looking for just to confirm what I thought. !

I would like to replace the rubber but I found an old post that indicated it is no longer available.

Maybe one from these other mfg'ers might fit but then the spacing might be off and perhaps drop that plate altogether.

Thank you.

it’s all back together but I would like to replace the rubber components. I would think the other branded mono springs need to be the same width to fit between the mounting bolts on the diff. That widths is set. Their mounting kit should work.
