Default Engine upgrade parts list. Looking for suggestions.

Its fall here in Ohio and I am planning on beefing up the motor on my 76 L48. I am ordering everything from Summit. First I am doing a Borgeson conversion, I think it will be easier with the motor out. Then for the motor I bought a used set of Vortec 062 heads. The heads are capable of .500 lift. Here is the parts list of what I am planning to buy: Thumper Camshaft by Comp Cam 12-600-4, Edelbrock Performer intake for Vortec heads, Comp Cam 1.5 rocker arms 17001-16. If anyone thinks i am going the wrong direction please let me know!!!! I am in the process of doing my homework and I am at the point of asking more knowledgeable people if my plans are solid here. Aside from these things I am replacing the push in studs with screw in on the heads and I will replace the pushrods with the same thing that is in the motor now. Thanks guys and gals!!!

What exactly is your goal here? 300hp, 400hp, 500hp, 600hp ? Throwing different parts on an engine only wastes money and time without a plan. 13 sec. quarter mile ?, 11 seconds, 10 seconds?. Engines are built in combinations, each change compliments the other. Select a combo that fulfills your goal. There are many tested and proven ones out there without you having to guess.........then build accordingly.

I would consider upgrading to a roller camshaft.

I'm not a big fan of the Thumper cams. They are designed to sound good idling though a cruise in and not making good power.

No matter what horsepower target you shoot for, you need to seriously consider everything south of the flywheel, all the way to the tires, to ensure you have made appropriate changes, as needed to handle whatever horsepower and torque levels you attain. The C 3 drivetrain, at best, can handle around 400 HP before you start exposing yourself to exploding driveshafts, u-joints, posi cases, stub axles and/or outer axles.

^ this, if your goal is noise change the exhaust. There are better options for cams.

What are you looking to do with the bottom end? If its staying stock personally I would use a kit like this on it Edelbrock topend kit. A 64 cc chamber will put you around 9.5 compression on your OE L48 pistons. These topend kits take alot of the guesswork out of the combos TBH.
