Clock does not appear to be working. Easy DIY fixes? Send it somewhere to fix if that doesn't work? Buy a new replacement OEM one?
(Someone told me even if you fix them, they break in a year. True?). Thank you!
Pick up one of these quartz movements: https://www.ebay.com/itm/15133155051...Bk9SR7S2j4v3YA
I've installed these on every Corvette I get. Easy to install, keeps perfect time and you don't face the disappointment of it breaking down again a year down the road.
Cheers, Greg

Can make a simple winter project.
interpon has made a good lead to getting yours running well
quartz movement makes the second hand run smoothly. original clicks every so often.
after cleaning & restoring yours, I believe it can be easily tested with a 9 volt battery
there are many videos out there incluiding Youtube
have fun
Who can hear the clock ticking? Please know that removing and reinstalling the clock is an endeavor that you may only want to do once. While the quarts movement doesn’t make any sound, you will only have to replace it once. While You Are There, you may want to replace the tired incandescent bulbs with LEDs, or just get new correct wattage bulbs. Every time I have to remove the center gauge cluster (or other dash parts), I hold my breath, because i know that I am dealing with vinyl, plastic, and foam that is close to 50 years old. Like me, something is just waiting to break. Last week the tilt “knuckle” in my steering column decided to start flopping around. The wonders of theses old cars!
What I have noticed time and again. People at car shows peer into my interior. And comment, Wow, the clock still works.
I put a quartz kit in mine in the mid 90's when the original just died. Still working.
Thanks everyone! If I don't care if the clock works, is there an fuse that I can pull that will only kill the clock? I just don't want it draining the battery.
If you don’t hear the solenoid sound then the contacts are bad and you will not use any battery power. As the spring winds down a set of points touch and a solenoid moves an arm that winds the main spring, which allows the clock move to run. Normally the points are bad or the old clock movement does work so the solenoid is never triggered.
Put my Corvette in a container. Container sat at the docks for weeks. finally got put on a ship. Ship went to some port in China where things were unloaded and loaded. Then went to a second port in China, again unload and load. then ship sailed to Brisbane Australia.
Container gets pulled off ship. car gets pulled from container and goes through cleaning, customs inspections, etc. Several months have gone by.
I hop in car at the docks in Brisbane. Clock still reading perfect time. (Although California time, not Brisbane time).
Battery was Several years old at the time. Car fired right up and I drove it away.
Thinking your clock will drain your battery???
I'm thinking your paranoid.

My clock goes forward and then it goes backward. I find it annoying. According to the owners manual there is a fuse. I may just unplug it until I can fix it.
