I installed TREPerformnace 255lph a while back. Evidently in driving the car the FP fuse melted (no damage to pump), ecm, etc. I contacted TRE and they suggested installing a hot wire kit, but that does not seem to power the pump. I was able to apply 12v direct to the FP and it powered and engine turned over. Does anyone know whether the hot wire kit should bypass the FP circruity or not. It is direct connect from power source, its own relay to the FP. Wondering if maybe the hot wire kit is the issue.
The hot wire kit is most likely based on a Bosch relay. If you remove the relay from the relay holder and look at the bottom of the relay there will be numbers corresponding with each terminal. The number 30 terminal goes to the battery. You can connect this to the junction inside the battery box. The 87 terminal goes to the fuel pump. You should try to connect this wire as directly to the fuel pump as possible being at the original factory wiring wasn't designed to handle that fuel pump. Next you need to locate the fuel pump relay and snip the the green and white wire and connect it to the 86 terminal of the relay. This is your trigger. And 85 terminal is ground. Next snip the tan and white wire from the fuel pump relay and parallel that with the 87 terminal. This is your oil pressure backup circuit in case the hot wire fuel pump relay fails your oil pressure switch will supply power to the fuel pump. However that backup circuit is not really rated for that pump. However it's better than nothing if your hot wire fuel pump relay gives out and won't be a problem normally being that the current is going through the hot wire set up. You still need to leave the 20 amp fuse and it's associated wiring in the fuse box intact. This is your unswitched ECM power. Leave the stock fuel pump relay unplugged.
