Default Quick question! (Suspension)

I would like as much adjustibility in my rear ride height as possible. If I put 10 inch spring bolts in, I know I will be able to acheive a much lower height, but how high can I get? Would I need to buy both 8" and 10" to have the full range of adjustment, or do the 10 inchers have twice the thread?

Thanks,
Chris

You don't have to use the bolts from a kit.

Go to a good hardware store and look through the bins for a hardened
bolt of the proper size. There may be even a full threaded one out there.

:withstupid: <--just glad to see it back :D
i currently have grade 8 1/2"x10 bolts in my rear spring. i use a jam nut and nyloc and have 1"+ adjustability. mine is not fully threaded though. got all the hardware at a local bolt store for about $8 for both sides

Could not find Grade 8 (or 5) of the correct size at any local hardware stores (Ace, HomeDepot) A tractor supply store came closer, but still only Grade 5 6inch partially threaded. According to my dad, this size of bolt would be hard to find, so what's up with your hardware stores? I'd rather not special order a full box just to get 2!

RUXperienced,

You might try a Caterpillar or Heavy Equipment John Deere dealer as a source of high grade bolts.

Go to your local class 8 truck dealer (Peterbilt) or Cat dealer. Everything over 3/8 must be grade 8.

you might also try an extensive machine shop, one who fabricates and does all types of work. we have a one in town here who actually has a "fasteners" room. all kinds of bolts, nuts, washers, etc. i can usually find what i need.
