Default Coolant Clamp Orientation

Looking for help with the type and orientation of the coolant hoses. I have just installed top hat/tower clamps on my bypass hose and wondering if it’s correct. I have searched high and wide with many opinions and have found a virgin survivor which has one tower and one round clamp.

your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

According to the NCRS 68/69 Guide the clamps are supposed to be WITTEK SAE Type D single screw type clamps. See photo.

I think you may be correct because here is a picture of an unrestored survivor.

I have to wonder if the guys on the assembly line were totally concerned about a precise angle on the clamp. Or if they were more concerned about their pay scale based on piece work.
Me, I was a factory worker in the 70's getting paid on piece work. And yes I was a union worker.
I personally think your really overthinking this!

I was thinking this as well, however I don't know how detailed the NCRS judges get.

The angle of the clamp probably depends on when the clamps are installed during assembly and if the installer was right handed or left handed.
The later in assembly that the clamps are installed, the more components will be in the way, limiting tool access.

What does the AIM show? I've worked on enough cars that it seems access for maintenance is sometimes not considered.
