Do you even need to remove the adapter? Screw in a short section of pipe once you remove the square head plug, custom cut to length you want and slip the hose over that, hose clamp and done.
how many old pairs of vice grips do you have? more than you need? get out the makita and cut off wheel and customize the jaws until you can get a grip on the rounded part and still turn it. maybe also take a really worn down cut off wheel and grind a flat on the top of the plug.
Are you putting the heater core back in service for some reason?
This might be slightly less Bubba, but, on a brand new water pump. The hose outlet on the intake was a great place to add a second calibrated water temperature sensor.
PJO's post reminded me of how we removed locked wheel logs when the key was lost.
We simply took a 12 point socket that would almost go over the lug, then POUND it over and grip the lug. ook the ratchet and bingo. @ things and one was pounding.
In this case you are dealing with cast iron which is much softer than a hardened locking wheel lug.
It's usually done to bypass a leaking heater core because they don't want to go through the effort of replacing it. It's also often done in warmer climates when people don't want the hot water circulating through the heater core and adding heat to the interior of the car. A pretty common Bubba-mod.
But to be fair if bypassing the heat is a bubba mod all those that ripped out or bypassed the AC system are just as guilty right? As someone who only drives with the windows up in the rain I just couldnt justify the ac I dont use myself... come to think of it my heat works but I havent tested it in years...
So here is the answer you have been waiting for..... Remove the square pipe plug... Get a set of internal pipe wrenches from Home depot. Use appropriate size and back it out... Under $20..
This is the best way.
An EZ-Out of the proper size might work, too. Worst case, you wreck your water pump, and are out $50.
