What if instead of adding to the slot end of the bracket you added to the other end, and redrilled the hole. Would that give you the additional length needed?
So after much deliberation on which path to take, taking into account my lack of welding skill, limited fabrication ability and no one willing to do some “simple” fab work for no less than my right arm and left leg…. I pulled the trigger on the adjustable alternator bracket.
Got it installed and it seems to be stout and well made. Only a few small hiccups with parts fitting well but it was simple to fix. It fits well with the vortec heads and tall valve covers and clears the power steering pump cap.
i appreciate the suggestions that were provided to try and help me out and find a solution.
finally found a belt that works! 54.5” belt
is perfect. Needed to remove the valve cover, and remove the adjuster to move the alternator all the way in to get it on the pulley.
haven't started her yet but was finally able to stop the water pump pulley from spinning by hand.
