Cool build. I'll offer my grandma's galvanized tub to my machine shop.

Impressive dyno numbers for a pump gas motor.

Good results! What are the plans for the engine? Is it going in a drag car?

it’s going to be for street , it idles 800 rpm , does have a Turbo350 transmission with 3800 stall now and will be mated to a 3.30 gear , may go overdrive eventually but this is a small hydraulic roller cam it’ll be happy with about anything

It's all about the heads! Once you get to driving it I think that you find that traction with auto trannies is very problematic. I also originally used a 3800 stall 9.5 inch behind my 427 sbc. I also can't imagine a th350 lasting very long.

Are you using offset lifters or rockers?

That was a great hp number I have a similar motor that did good as well but a lot shorter intake and less lift and head flow .

He might have to mini tub it for traction , the Turbo 350 is full manual valve body and beefed up by me so it should hold this power, his old combo was a 7500 rpm 525 horse power 355 , this will be like a tractor engine compared to that . We knew Skip White's 427 was with a bigger hydraulic roller but had smaller 200cc intake 23 degree heads and makes 640 hp , our cam is much smaller but the heads are way better so we was thinking 640 ish so this was a pleasant surprise , sometimes you hit a good combination first try
The 18X series with the 252cc intake port uses the traditional 23 degree valve train components , no off set rocker or lifters , in this case they are just 23 degree1.6 Scorpion traditional roller rocker with stud girdle and Morel roller lifters with standard plunger travel

Hey, Eric...
Is your next post going to be, "Does anyone know if my engine combo will fit under my stock '80 L82 Vette hood?"

Sweet engine build - solid simple approach that always works. Love it!

Which motor are you talking about at Skips their 434 or 427 5.5 cause there cam is smaller heads are smaller and intake is a little shorter , so your cam I don't think is a lot more smaller just more lift either way that 427 you built will be awesome.

I’m using the same galvanized wash tub on my 496 build and it will fit under my stock 73 hood!
At least that’s what I read on the internet, so it must be true!

Eric -
How much total timing did you end up with using those Brodix heads?

I was wondering about the cam specs. Really wide specs between intake and exhaust. Hydraulic roller camshaft 244/254 at .050 114.5 LSA. That 10 degrees is for low flowing heads and a restrictive exhaust. You kinda see numbers like those with the 114.5 on motors like the LS7 with great big intake valves and flow numbers, but a very quiet restrictive exhaust.

Lars , I believe we are at 32 now on pump gas , tested up to 36 on race fuel but was no improvement

Cam lobes were picked based on the flow chart and a vehicle didn’t have power brakes and street use , Lift is hand written for 1.6 and 1.7 ratio ,we used 1.6’s for the .637 lift , valves are 2.14 and 1.6 , the split duration is for the full exhaust system, we’re pretty happy at this point as it’s exceeded expectations , usually the dyno breaks hearts and shatters dreams . Lol

this is a very tall top end kit and would require it least a 4 inch L88 hood , this particular engine is going in an employee’s 1970 Nova . Flow is about as good as you can get short of going offset lifters and rockers
