I've spent hours on the search function and seen little on CS144's for big bock cars. Moser did the bracket modification but seemingly no one has also relocated it to the other side. Aesthetically and functionally (with wiring changes I am planning) I'd like to do this. Big block, no A/C, power steering car.
1. Are there any pre-fabbed brackets for CS144 alternators on big block cars (driver or passenger)?
2. Anyone also moved this setup to the passenger side?
Thanks to searching the forum, wiring questions have been answered. I'm now moving on to physically mounting the thing.
I moved mine to the passenger side a few years ago
But I made my own brackets so that doesn't help you much. I couldn't find any brackets that looked like they would work and keep the belts in the right spots for the stock crank and wp pulleys. If You change those there might be something available, most cars don't mount them that high up
I found a replacement PS pulley that's a single groove and I needed to swap the nose of the alternator to one with a different mount ear arrangement (sticking up doesn't work over there)
On the plus side, using a SB upper rad hose gets rid of that weird bend and now I can actually check the PS level with easy

How much lower do you think you could mount the alternator with enough clearance? Does the valve cover or the control arm get in the way first?

That's about as low as it can go where it is now. If you moved it outwards more it could drop down a little more as it would start to clear the valve cover / head. I'll see if I can get a picture of the clearance underneath if I make it to the shop today.
I mocked everything up with 1" tube sections to check to make sure everything worked out. Also, it's driving off the front smog pulley groove so it's still ahead as far as it can go.
Modifying the stock bracket and keeping it on the drivers side isn't hard, even if you have to take it to someone to have it welded. I already sold mine to someone here on the forum after moving it to the passenger side.

Gotcha. Man that is tucked in there nicely! Appreciate the pics. Now, I'm considering grabbing a 150A Powermaster 12si and using a prefabbed passenger side mount. This claims to put out 100amps at idle.
12si fits the 10si mount. tiny bit of slop where 3/8th mount bolt is in 10mm hole in the metric alt frame. and you need to find a metric adjuster bolt. 8 mm and 5/16th real close. the metric bolt will slide in the orig adjuster slot for the 5/16ths bolt..

This is excellent feedback and information. Thanks for posting; this will help many of us in the future I’m sure!

All the electric goodies and an aftermarket stereo, better to have too much than not enough I suppose.
I’m mainly concerned with the idle performance given that’s where you need the fans the most!

Going to be doing some mobile welding for a side hustle?
I can see the Millermatic strapped to the luggage rack now...
