Default C3 Intellitronix 1977

I have a 1977 Corvette that I am currently installing Intellitronix gauges in it. I will list the problems I am having and hopefully, someone will have come across it on their car:

1. The smoked lens does not fit into the gauge housing (blue metal) due to space. This concerns me because I do not want the gauges sitting directly on the lens plastic.
2. The smoked lens does not fit into the original interior bezel without interfering with the three tabs made for the stock lens (clear), this causes the new panel not to seat properly and I can't tighten everything up.
3. The speedometer screws and spacer kits they send you are too tight.

Can someone help me out with some pictures? The instructions are not clear as to which piece comes first, or where to put certain lens or panels. If I could just figure this out I can move on. It was quite enough just to get the dash apart. Really want to finish up this little project.

Hopefully others have had fitment issues with intellitronix...
Thanks.

I put Intellitronix in my 1978. Different cluster , but I had to modify my original case with a dremel tool to get everything to sit flat. But that was 10 years ago also It didn't come with a reset button , so I had to build one into the clear housing. Just another obstacle to overcome when owning these cars.

Good luck

I don't know if the clusters are comparable, but 75stingrayvette on instagram has installed intellitronix on his '75.

I am also currently installing my intellitronixs gauges on my 80. You have to use a solder gun or Dremel tool to make that slot a little bigger. I used a solder gun and melted those areas. Either way you have to be very careful, keep in mind car is very old and things are somewhat brittle.

I didn't use the spacers because they made everything too tight. Only used plastic washers in between cluster and guages. Trust me I tried everything and finally after taking and putting it together about 5 times I settled on only using plastic washers.

There is a guy on the forum r6n350, who does away with circuit board and runs wires directly after cutting plug harness in the back. I followed his setup and it looks to be like an OEM fit.

This makes it easy to remove in case you have to remove it later.

How did your setup end up? Any problems with temp guages? Mine came out pretty cool, color looks super bright blue. The only issue I had was the Water Temp Sensor, they sent me wrong one I believe because it cuts off midway while car is gradually warming up. I spoke to Intellitronixs and they are sending me different sending units.

Waiting on 2 new temp guages for water and oil.

I have one of their units in a 1972 El Camino. It was in it when I bought the truck. I am not impressed at all with it or the company. It has been sent back to them with no improvement. The voltage gauge is not accurate, the temperature reads WAY to low to what it is with a temp gun and the speedo reads 25% high as in really doing 75 when it reads 100 mph. If Dakota digital has a unit available for your car that is what I would buy.

I will test the speedo this weekend with GPS and the Tach with the Timing gun to verify rpms. I can also verify the water temp gauge as well because my electric fans kick on at appx 190 degrees according to the settings on PWM controller. I do believe that the Oil Pressure gauge is about 3 to 4 points off because my oil pressure would always run at about 39 to 41 psi on the analog gauge, now it runs at about 36 to 38. This one I wouldn't know how to check without replacing with a new gauge. My volts run at about 14.6, but I did put a new 105 amp Alternator.

So, I followed a guys thread on here for installing it. He retained both the clear and smoke lens. The smoke lens went into the metal casing. He added O-rings as spacers to prevent to much pressure on the cluster and lens. It worked. So that is together now, I’m hoping it doesn’t get hot on the face or alter the smoked lens over time. It went back together and didn’t feel tight so I’m going to leave it that way and move onto the speedo cluster.

thanks for the insight.

Thank you all for the insight. Keep it coming with photos and workarounds for others who happen to buy this kit. I love the way it looks, hope mine turns out alright.
