Power charge alternator
We just finished installing a LS1/4L60E into my ‘82 Collectors Edition. We’re testing power and we don’t seem to have enough juice to push the starter. Using a power probe I’m able to push the starter but not through the ignition. Additionally, I’m unsure how to wire my new one-wire alternator. I ran new 4 gauge power cable from the battery terminal to the alternator stud and am just using the engine block itself as a ground since the alternator is bolted directly to it.
Also, when I turn the key on, I get no lights or anything on the dash. However, when I used the power probe on the red wire (2 wire alternator connector with red and brown wire), my dash lights worked with the key on. Strangely, it also triggered my courtesy lights in the car even though my doors were closed.
I’ve read numerous posts on this forum and others and also watched various videos on YouTube, but I’m still unsure how to proceed. For the alternator wiring issue, do I just connect the red wire from the two wire connector to the one wire connector on the alternator?
