Good grief.
And, no... you DO NOT want to splice the choke wire into the ignition hot wire to the distributor. You run it off the "ACC" or "IGN" terminal in your fusebox or off the wiper motor hot wire as suggested by RescueRogers. And if you do that, you don't cut and splice into the wire. You come off the wiper motor terminal with a proper spade splitter and leave the wiring harness alone. Don't be a hack.

i’m 18 and learning about cars i’m not trying to be a hack but thank you for the information
Don't know what your area code is?...
If you were in the Seattle area I would donate the correct terminal and a length of wire and choice of color for a nice clean looking tap.
The pink wire would go to the choke...
Yea, I'm a cutter...lol

Reason: Changed Photo and idea...
On my 73 SB, the electric choke gets it’s 12 volts from the plastic plug that goes to the back up light switch on the manual transmission. I don’t know if your car is an automatic? You should see the wires and plastic connector on the passenger side of the power brake booster. I soldered the wire to the positive wire and avoided making a splice. When I reinstall my Quadrajet all I have to do is cut the choke wire.
Why don't you wire it through a oil pressure switch such as the Standard PS64 and Standard S956 connector with a inline fuse to the back of the alternator battery terminal. This way the choke won't start to open until the engine is running.

I went through the yellow wiper motor wire instead.

My transmission is automatic and I spliced it into yellow wire that goes to the power for the wipers.
