68 one wire alternator
Anyways he’s tried 2x different covers and they don’t clear the alternator. Car has power steering FYI. He is tempted to start bending brackets or putting spacer washers under and I told him to hold up. The belts currently never squeal, it never throws belts, everything lines up perfect let’s not **** up the alignment of stuff here and create another problem.
I know the 12si is not the OE alternator/generator. Car has electric fans and a MSD box so it needs the amperage. The OE ship sailed long long ago on this car. I was looking at CS130 units which are similar except about 3/4” smaller in diameter and that might be enough. Anything else I should consider? Can’t really use much longer of a belt and I’d be worried about getting it tensioned right.

If you flip the valve covers upside down and use a block of wood with a clearance groove cut into it as a base you can get those dimples flat.....just dont toss them as most after market tin is thin and he may want to revisit them later....i would look at other Aluminum factory covers as a solution. I liked the 7 fin C2 covers and the LT1 style as well for a factory muscle look. You just need premium gaskets to prevent leaks...and a little RTV on the head surface
