Default Taking next week off....Its Vette mainenance time

Just got my vacation time approved for next week. I've got plenty planned and hope to get it all done. I want to switch the rear ends on the two 69s so the richmond 5 speed has the 3.08 rearend and the 4speed has the 3.70 rearend. Also want to do a complete cleaning of both cars and get them detailed, the engine is still out of the coupe so I want to repaint all that I can there. I will also be getting a new exhaust for the vert and moving that exhaust over to the coupe. Let me know if there is anything else I should be thinking of while I am doing all of this.

This Friday: All coupe work. Remove exhaust. Pull 3.08 rearend out, clean, new oil. Take spring to spring shop to have resprung. Detail as much as I can there.

Monday-Tues: All vert work. Remove exhaust, Pull 3.70 rearend, Detail bottom back of car, put 3.08 rearend back in. Work on trans to get to shift to 3rd easier, possibly change oil in it?

Wed or Thurs: Take vert in for new 3" exhaust and Dynomax Ultraflow!!!!

Wed and Thurs: Clean up 3.70 rearend and put back in coupe. Detail engine compartment on coupe.

Friday: Race night, see if 3.08 pulls better times in 1/4 mile!!!!

I am getting better at changing rearends. The first time it took me 16 hours, the second time it took me 5 hours for 1 car. I am going to start start spraying everything down with WD40 tonight to let it all start soaking in to make the job a little easier. Also, this time, I HAVE AIR TOOLS!!!! I am very motivated to do this right now because I also want to lower the vert. SOMEBODY (swimmer) said that he cant believe I haven't fixed my goofy looking car yet and I have had it for so long and it still sits up so high.

 Awesome!

Man, you are gonna need another vacation after all that! :) Gonna go with new poly bushings while you're at it? :) If ya got more cash, maybe go with new fiberglass spring?? Longer spring bolts for lowering rear end of convert?

Any news on the coupe motor? I wanna go back and drive it again! haha

good luck, sounds like fun!

Haven't even thought about new bushings, Thanks. The vert has a fiberglass spring on it already, I think that is why it sets up so high, and I got the longer bolts for it also, those will go on when I put it back together for sure.

Haven't heard back on the motor yet, which is ok as I am not in a big hurry to put it all back in. The wife might just get used to it sitting in the garage - yeah right. Come on back and take it home with you! That car has you written all over it!! Any plans on your next trip?

The thought had crossed my mind. :)

I think we are going to the Big Island in May or June probably. . . . but maybe we could swing a small flight over to Oahu. . . :)

Well, the engine builder called and my engine for the coupe is ready to be picked up tomorrow. That should be easy enough to throw in also during the week in my spare time
