I just bought the msd atomic fuel injection a. Fit tech tank with pump.Msd says there fuel line fittings are different from regular AN fittings an hoses an may leak if you don't use there fittings an hoses.Anyone install there kit have problems with using earls fittings and braided hose.
Yes we used regular AN fittings, braided lines and hard lines. Worked great.
You probably got one of their young techs on the line who is repeating what he was told.
But IIRC the unit output fittings were designed for soft rubber fuel hose, with slip on fittings and clamps. Even the rubber hose was included in the kit. We did not use any of that. No way did we want to run 15 feet of rubber hose.
When I bought my Holley Stealth Sniper I also bought the Installation kit for it as well as the in-tank Fuel pump module. In my Installation kit there was 15-20' of the Earl's Black Braided hose which I went ahead and used since I didn't have any new S.S. Braided PTFE lined hose. The Earl's black braided hose that came with my kit is PTFE lined and safe for use with Ethanol and high pressure. If you choose to use another type hose be sure it can handle the Ethanol, my last fuel system had SS braided line but was PTFE lined and had no issue with the ethanol in our gasoline.
All the Earl's parts and fittings worked flawlessly and the system holds 58-60 psi pressure for well over a week or two. I ended up using the Earl's fittings and hose and have zero issues.
Good point.
I believe the rubber hose that came with our Atomic kit was fuel rated, but rubber lined, not PTFE, and designed for clamps.
We upgraded to all PTFE lined and all AN fittings., no slip & clamp except on the return.
We also ran a return all the way back to the tank, althought technically it is not required.
We wanted the fuel flow for less heat soak etc.
The installation kit also came with an external fuel pump which we also did not use. We went with an internal fuel pump for quiet and reliability.
So the customer bought & provided the installation kit, which we basically never used.
We ran 1/2" aluminum hard line for feed & return, except the firewall to carb section, at customers request, which was a major pain. Labor intensive and expensive option unless you are doing it yourself. Cool though.

Instead of paying 409 for a fuel pressure regulator kit.I can get the regulator for 200 an use reg an fittings. The instructions that came with msd fuel injection claimed you had to use their fittings or it might leak.I figure it was bull crap to get you to buy their hoses an fittings. I bought a custom tank with in tank pump with return and pressure fittings an wanted to use braided hoses an screw in an fittings. I don't want to half to pull tank down the rd to change out rubber hoses.Defeats purpose if going to fuel injection. Thanks for information.
When I bought the Holley In-Tank Fuel Module it came with a brand new fuel level sending unit, A Walbro 255 Liter per hour Fuel pump, a Holley internal fuel pressure regulator and a piece of Hydra-Mat. On the 1968 model the hole for the fuel float sensor is on the bottom so I drained the tank, switched out the parts and re-installed the cover on the bottom of the tank. I had those parts installed in no time and then wired in. Not having to have anything outside the tank makes for a clean installation. They Hydra Mat is awesome and I am really glad to have it, it works way better than a fuel pump sock ever could.
Being aware that cooler fuel is better for the engine I put DEI insulation over the Earl's hose and the covered that with a fire sleeve to ensure that the heat doesn't heat up the fuel. My throttle body mounts just like a carburetor so I ran the fuel line up over the bell housing and straight into the fuel inlet. I ran the fuel lines as far as I could from any heat source. Having a good cold air intake and cooler fuel should help my engine make horsepower without detonation
