After recently purchasing a C3 corvette with numerous problems (including a rusted master cylinder), i became aware that the entire parking brake system had been removed from the lever back. wanting a functional parking brake on a car with potentially problematic brakes, i ordered a rebuild kit from zip corvette. everything has bean removed from the parking brake area, including the little clip that holds the pads from hitting the wheel hub
I do not have access to the required hydraulic press to reinstall the wheel hub after removing it, and have bean considering making a small cut in the plate to allow me to slip it over the anchor bolt. would be happy to know if there is a better way that does not involve cutting brake parts or purchasing a hydraulic press.
To install that anchor lock you need to remove the axle. Otherwise, you have to cut up the flange which I wouldn't do. The arm has been worked and probably by someone who didn't know how to do it correctly. The backing plate looks like it has seen better days.
Looks like you have 2 options.
1- hack it together like the last guy
2- remove the arms and rebuild them correctly
Based on those pictures I would not install the parking brake system on those trailing arms. This is a classic case of things don't last forever, after 40 plus years in service you just have to accept the fact that some things need rebuilt.
