Running lights are headlights (front lights) that come on during daytime driving. C3 Vettes with pop-up headlights never had running lights. Running lights are required in many European countries, so C3 Vettes have to be retrofitted with actual running lights for daytime driving operations. In stock form, C3s never had running lights. Euro-converted C3s have them.
Park lamps are side marker lights, front park lamps, and rear tail lamps that come on in the "park lamp" position of the light switch to mark/light a parked car in the dark so you won't get hit when parked (engine off) alongside a dark road.
Two completely different, and opposite, things.
So, back to the OP's problem: Which lights are coming on: The headlights (i.e., "running lights"), or the park lights?
must be a regional nomenclature.
"daytime" running lights don't exist but running lights exist when headlights are on.
when headlights are off then parking lights are lit.
