Previous owner "oops" (A/C area short)
I have a new '81 Silver Vette. I bought it not-running from a very old gentlemen who did this to cause the car to not crank:
- He said the A/C this year was just not cool enough.
- His sone said put more refrigerant in
- He overfilled it and seized the compressor (cut off the belt)
- He then took out a jumper-wire to, as I understand, cycle power on/off to the compressor to see how it reacts
- He induced a sizable spark and the engine stopped and the motor would not crank anymore.
Any debug guidance on this? (of course I am going to re-check fuses & battery - he said he checked these BUT I am not confident). What electrical "bad" can be done in the A/C compressor area?
THANKS for all help you can provide.
