Hello:
I’m in the process of redoing my suspension on my 1978 and have to coils out to get powder coated. I think I saw somewhere that they sell coil insulators for the stock coils? I didn’t have them on my 78? Where these stock parts? Are they needed??
I think might be referring to a rubber spacer that fits in the spring pocket. I think that they are/were available in different thicknesses to adjust ride height with different strength or height springs.
When I rebuilt my suspension 20+ yrs ago, Vette Brakes and Products were the "guys" and they recommended that I use a 1" spacer because their spring was 1" shorter (but stronger).
Well, guess what? My front end is 1" higher than stock. I never got around to removing it, but it irritates me that the "guys" weren't really that smart.
So, I'm thinking you probably don't need it, but you might if you're changing springs.
