I will go get that cable adjusted asap as I didn't know that it looked that loose. I've tried driving the car maybe a few miles with it like this and the transmission slipping like crazy in forward gear so is it too late? did I fry the transmission because reverse still works fine.
Hey, sorry I haven't replied but the car has been in the shop for the past few weeks getting a new transmission because they said I had everything adjusted normally but the transmission was just shot so I had to get a brand new one. The car has driven fine since then but a new problem has arose. Whenever I go to start the car the engine light comes on and the idle fluctuates pretty rapidly for a few minutes then straightens out. Before when the car didn't have the issue, I heard clicking coming from the choke on the carb but I don't hear it anymore but the connection seems secure. I also checked the throttle position sensor and that seems to be fine as well. If any of you have tips on how to solve this lmk. I also tried jumping the 2 pins in the ecm diagnostics port to get a code but nothing happened.
Thanks for following up! I hope you got a manual transmission put in... but the acceleration problem is solved?
Is the "choke" light on on the dash? I had that, with buzzing. Turned out to be a fuse. While not easy with these cars, check the fuses first, and know that even if the fuse is fine, corrosion in the fuse box can cause weird circuit issues. Hopefully that is not the case.
This could also be a very specific CCC issue, so consider starting a new thread.
Yes, the choke light comes up on the dash until I start the car. which I am guessing is normal? I checked all the fuses and they are fine and also checked for corrosion. I started a new thread like you said so I will be responding on both pages. Thanks.
