Default Horn button 1976 corvette

Hey all. Helping a friend with his 76 vette horn.tilt yes, telescopic no. Someone removed everything so I ordered all parts needed. Used a steering wheel extractor to put in the plastic retainer clip. I just noticed where the spring loaded contact would go is a huge hole compared to the size of the contact. I’m obviously missing something. Is there an extra part goes in that hole? The spring, stud and little black retainer I have. It’s the white bigger piece of plastic. What’s that called? i'm thinking it's something like the second pic but it doesn't have telescopic and i can't find one without the spring

My '72 AIM shows an insulator in that area (#15) - do you have a tube like plastic piece that hasn't found a home?

maya I don’t have part number 15 or 11, or 10 if it’s all the same for 76.

I think #10 is what you see in your pic and #11 is underneath that. As far as I recall, the tilt/tele columns were basically the same design for all C3s.

Yes, you are missing this lower contact plate:

Also (and you may already know this) you are holding the contact pin upside down in your picture. The nail head end goes toward the bottom.

Cheers, Greg

I'm curious, how can your friend have a column with tilt and without tele? What kind of a column does your friend's Corvette have? ALL 69-79 Corvettes came with either a fixed, non adjustable column, or a tilt and telescoping one, there were no tilt only columns offered in Corvettes.

I don't understand it either. There's no way to get the thing to 'telescope'. Tilt is fine. Bubba got in there and removed everything he could. My fav vendor bairscorvette *USA, didn't have it so i ordered from corvette central. should be here soon. wish me luck
