Pull the kickpanels out and look in the birdcage where the body bolts to the frame.....is this area in very poor rusty condition? If so....the body is a total loss.
Now the windshield frame can most definitely be repared.....and it has been covered here many times.....a member just recently had a thread on how they repaired it. You pull the windshield and cut the rusty piece out and weld in a donor.......
If you are good with fab....it can be done...if not, leave it to a pro.
A few years back a member bought a 69' Factory Sidepipe Vert and although the car was beautiful....the complete birdcage was rotted and the car basically not worth saving.......it was a damn shame....but this is a well known thing about these cars and is hidden.....
Assess what your true situation is and go from there....

While you’re at it, check the condition of the frame, particularly in the area where the rear section attaches to the main section. Use a sharp pick to see if you can poke holes in it.
No, frame is like brand new, only surface patina. Behind kick panels all is well and solid, under windshield firewall area is silver factory without a dot. Underbody is rock solid. A pillars are solid. All that was the first thing I’ve checked before buying. I saw this only because i wanted to polish the chrome under t-top. Rust is isolated only in this area.

Thats a good thing! This usually happens from being exposed to rain......
This CAN be fixed then......but your will need a donor piece......there are still old Vette breakers that can help you with that......

I’m good with sheet metal, I’ll fab my own. When I cleaned most of leaves and debris it seams damage is only on this water canal part. Steel underneath is solid. I’ll clean it to see how much bare metal i have and work from there

Cool....you got pretty lucky.......you could rust treat it and leave it for now too! If the structure doesn't look compromised......hate to say that as it is approaching Bubba...but who is going to see it.....?
It’s not that bad after all. Cleaned everything with porcupine wheel and treated it with woerth rust converter. Only damaged part is upper sheet that is I’m guessing for water removal. Structural part has some surface rust and some in screw spots but generally quite fine.
For now it’ll be OK but I will redo this section this fall. Here are some pics.
Keen corvette has all the pieces you need , but you have to make a brace that makes the new piece fit exactly right or you'll have trouble when the door windows close , Cut and replace only what's needed , my black L82 has decent body mounts and frame but I know the cage around the window will need a repair , I will do a new dash and everything in the interior when I tear into mine
I’m half-expecting to have to do some windshield frame repair on mine when I go to restore it. My plan will be to only cut out one part at a time (like 1/2 at a time), but weld in braces to bridge across to the good parts before cutting so they don’t move around.
