Just be careful. The TRW springs that are shaped like a bowtie when you look from the top-down are SUPER arched and will make the rear-end sit super high like a 4x4.

Lots of people buy them, then struggle with trying to lower them with super long bolts and then have bolts that stick down lower than the rear wheels AND the rear still sits up too high.
Friends don't let friends buy the TRW 4x4 springs for a C3.

*Queue angry comments from people who bought said TRW 4x4 springs and just learned to live with the high rear stance and too long rear spring bolts and take offense to people pointing out their mistakes.*

Well....I certainly don't want that; this is a numbers matching car and my aim is to keep everything as original as possible. My plan is to use the Vansteel 330 lb. low arch composite monospring.
Any thoughts or experience on that product?

i being one of those guys who went the cheaper way. but after researching the van steel one i learned that the TRW one has the spacers setup differently from van steel and after rearranging the spacers i got the rear to sit about 3/4” lower.

sorry for the quality of pics.
notice the plastic fiber spacer and the thicker aluminum one are on the top in first pic. in van steel instructions for the 335lb rate (which i have the 340lb knock off) spacer should sit on the bottom. i switched them around and i was 29.5 from ground to wheel well now it’s 28.75.

Great post! I've never seen or heard of that spacer setup before. An extra 3/4" drop in the rear will probably make a lot of TRW spring-owning folks happy.

definitely have it a better look and feel. not as much body roll but i also switched to polly spring cushions at the same time.

i forgot to mention i also added this into the back so it added some weight to help with ride height.

VERY well-done speaker box. When you going to start selling them? ;-)

I have the VanSteel 360 composite, iow arch spring and QA1 single adjustable shocks. I had no problem with ride height using stock length bolts.

And frankly I'm surprised that a whole lot of people haven't chimed in by now, I guess timing is everything.

Bottom line. The glass mono spring is way worth the money! Hands down a HUGE improvement over the shitty steel multi leaf springs.
Ask yourself. Did GM stick with the steel multi leaf spring? Look at the C4. Or even the last of the C3's.
You do need the correct shocks to match.
Bilstien B8's on mine.
You couldn't pay me to put the factory gymkhana rear spring back on mine.
Handles better and rides better.

I did the same, on my wife's '79, which she owned back in the same time frame. Best mod ever!!
