I have a 1980 vette and currently no headlights are working. I have directionals. dash lights, horn etc all working. Had a mechanic do some work which included fixing some wires at the starter (previous owner work lol), now I noticed one red wire near the started that is stripped back but not connected to anything. Could this be the cause of my issue?
The best thing for you to do is use this link to get a wiring diagram for your car, and then use it to trace the wiring integrity of the lighting system.....after 40 yrs you never know what Bubba has done to your car.
If you intend to keep the car and want to learn how to fix systems that break, go on EBay and purchase a Chevrolet Service Manual for your model year. Even if you don’t want to tackle a repair, the book will provide instructions on the way the repair should be accomplished. There is a wiring diagram in the book, so if you take the car to a shop, they will have the information handy. Also, with our old Corvettes, not every mechanic has the experience or knowledge to work on these old ladies.
