Quick question, I picked up an engine for my 71 to make it more period correct. The engine is a 350 small block (270 hp) rebuilt approximately 30,000 miles ago. I decided to tear the engine down and check everything before I put it in my car. The only thing I found, is on the connecting rods, there is movement side to side on the crank. It is not on every set, it’s only on one set. Feeler gauge says 022. I believe the spec is 006-012. Do you think this will be ok?

If you have it torn down that far why not change the bearings. You have no idea what the previous owner did for maintenance and how he drove it. Its worth the piece of mind and a few bucks to make it right....if you are asking the question, you already know the answer
What do the bearings look like for those rods?
if some babbitt is missing, that would allow excessive motion back and forth.
as others have mentioned, it’s already torn down, might as well mic and check everything.

Bearings won't correct side to side play.

It could run fine but it might be noisy as the rod bounces around back and forth on the crank.
.024 is fine...run it......
Eagle SIR rods are usually that out of the box........
There is a LOT of oil continuously flowing out of the rods bearings......on the journal fillet side and between the two rods.....a LOT of buffer from stuff moving side to side......a lot of oil slinging up top at the pin too as it is moving side to side exactly as much......
The 408 Windor I built recently had Scat rods for .022 side clearance......no problem.....
The big problem is when there isn't enough side clearance......
