my question is about reusing roller rockers, i will be changing the heads on my 1980 L48 this spring, and am wondering if i can reuse my old roller rockers, supposing they are in good shape, i plan on doing a low budget head change with either some used 305HO or the sportsmanIIs or whatever i could find used, i was wondering what roller rockers different heads use and also what kind my stock heads have.... any help appreciated
GM used stamped steel rockers on most of their V8 engines. You can re-use the stamped steel ones - no problem. However, the hi-perf. aluminum rockers wear out much quicker ~ so I'd suggest a change.
***Otherwise the best alternative for 'street' use is roller tip rockers out of steel which are quite durable.

Re: roller rockers (verskel)
depends on the type and mileage on them.
If they are the stamped steel with roller tips, go ahead and re-use them.
If they are aluminum full rockers, and don't have a ton of miles on them you could re-use them after a complete cleaning of the roller bearing assemblies.
my engine does have high mileage but it runs very smooth now and has excellent compression, also i would probably be replacing these heads with in 2 years and doing new rockers then
The link you posted is not roller rockers. Those are stamped steel rockers basicly the same as stock.Yes you can reuse your rockers, just clean them well and check for wear or cracks.Roller tip rockers look similar to those you posted except they have a roller on the tip where it contacts the valve stem.Full roller rockers have a needle bearing fulcrum that the rocker stud slides through and roller tips.Either of these cost much more than $49.Look again and you will find them at Summit
If you are changing your cam to a higher lift than you should replace the rockeers. I didn't when I put my new cam in even though it was sggested by crane and I had one fail. The bottom broke out. I don't know if it was because of the new cam or just a bad rocker but better safe then sorry.
