78 Alarm System Problems

78 Alarm System Problems
Need some help with my problem.
I parked my car this morning and when I locked the drivers door with the key the alarm horn was going off so I turned the key back to center and it stopped. When I came back to the car got in and tried to start it nothing. I've tried setting and unsetting the alarm by turning key to the left and then to the right nothing. Disconnected and reconnected the battery nothing. I tried starting the car in neutral nothing. I have interior lights, horn and headlights.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update had nothing to do with the alarm battery shorted out.
