Yes another one. Just got the headers in after a long weekend, a fight with a hammer and the drivers side header and a dremel for the bolt holes. They are OBX headers. Started it up with no inserts and just a little to loud at idle and revving. Decided I am going to go with the CCE side pipe insert mufflers as no one has a used set they don't need. It is a toss up as to 25LV-IN or the 30LV-IN, Currently a stock L48 engine but going to be dropping in a stroker 383 and a 700R4 from a 89 Firebird with a twisted unibody. Wondering if anyone has any experience with either of these models. I know sound is subjective and opinions will vary so just looking for some feedback please.
Following... ordered a full Doug's ceramic set up supposed to be here tomorrow. I ordered the mid "glasspack" and the Dougs higher flowing inserts to try them both, I would be very curious in some responses and your results
If CCE is Classic Chambered Exhaust, I have the 30 inch. 2.5" opening. A lot depends on your rear gears as far as noise level at highway cruising speeds. I have 3.70 gears and the 60mph to 70mph is 3k rpm to 3.5k rpm so it is loud.
The 700R4 will help especially if you have a lower numeric gear.

I have same inserts in my obx sidepides and this is why I have a 2004r sitting on my garage floor waiting to go in.
Well I decided to go with the 25VP-IN cause of the resonator. So now one step to go. Heat shields. It is a toss up between the patriot and cobrastuff. Patriot is about $100 cheaper but I think it is going to stick too far away from the pipes for my liking. If anyone has pics of either feel free to offer them up.

I have a set of Hedman Hedders on my 1968 C3 with a 427 and they fit like a glove. I did not have to modify them in any way, they fit perfectly and cleared everything. I can change all 8 spark plugs in less than 20 minutes all from the top. My engine is a L88 replica and it has the Hedman headers connected to a Allen's Stainless Steel's Chambered Exhaust. The sound is like that of a car with side-pipes but the noise is out back for those people behind me to enjoy. I can have my stereo on and be listening to it at 70 mph with my top down.
My cousin had a 1967 with side pipes and they didn't have any inserts because after 1/2 hour on the road I was for all purposes deaf until the drone went away. This is why I chose the Chambered Exhaust because it helps the performance but controls the noise to my personal liking. My Uncle had a 1969 C3 convertible with Hooker Chrome side pipes and they were beautiful. The only bad thing is I still have a Scar from a brief ride in 1968 on the inside of my right leg.
