I am STILL trying to install a 2017 LT1andtremec trans into my 1978 . I am working on the wiring ( I got a loom from PSI ). I also have the Intellitronix digital gauges. With the old trans, all I had to do was remove the cable, install the provided pickup and run wires to the harness. The tremec has the Ford T-5 mechanical pickup, which I am not sure the Intellitronix pickup would work in, and also a VSS electronic pickup, which I wired my original to. Now I find out that the PSI harness also has a VSS connector.
Do you think I can splice my original wires into the connector, or perhaps try and see if the mechanical pickup will fit the trans instead..
One step forward , 2 steps sideways. Not going back .

For my T56 Magnum 6-speed manual, I had the option of.
1. Mechanical Speed Connector
2. VSS Connector to LS3 GM Harness.
I connected both.
1. Mechanical to the factory speedometer. Replace gear to match rear diff / tiresize combo.
2. VSS Connector to GM Harness. (Keep the ECU happy)
But I made a harness that connected the ECU connector to the transmission connector. Didn't splice any wires just matched the connectors.
